Born in 1956 in Leningrad (now Saint Petersburg), Natalia Trull is a distinguished Russian pianist and educator renowned for her profound musical insight and technical mastery. She began her piano studies at the Special Secondary Music School of the Leningrad Conservatory under T. Rumshevich. She later graduated from the Moscow State Conservatory, studying with esteemed professors Yakov Zak and Mikhail Voskresensky, and completed her postgraduate studies under Professor Tatiana Kravchenko.
Trull’s international acclaim was solidified with her first prize at the Belgrade International Piano Competition in 1983. She further distinguished herself by winning the silver medal at the 1986 International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow and the Grand Prix at the 1993 Piano Masters Competition in Monte Carlo.
Her extensive performance career includes collaborations with leading orchestras such as the London Symphony Orchestra, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich, and the Monte Carlo Symphony Orchestra. She has performed under the batons of renowned conductors including Gennady Rozhdestvensky, Yuri Temirkanov, Vassily Sinaisky, and Eri Klas. Trull’s repertoire encompasses over 50 piano concertos, with notable interpretations of works by Tchaikovsky, Prokofiev, and Stravinsky.
In addition to her performance career, Trull is a dedicated educator. She began teaching at the Leningrad Conservatory in 1981 and has been a professor at the Moscow State Conservatory since 2004. Her pedagogical contributions extend globally through masterclasses in the United States, South America, Japan, Italy, and Germany.
Trull is a sought-after jury member for prestigious international piano competitions, including the International Telekom Beethoven Piano Competition, Valencia International Piano Competition, Monte Carlo Piano Masters, and the International Mozart Competition in Salzburg.
Her discography features acclaimed recordings of Prokofiev’s complete piano sonatas, as well as works by Chopin and Schubert. Trull’s artistry continues to inspire audiences and students worldwide, solidifying her status as a leading figure in the classical music community.
