About the Festival
Set in the medieval town of Kotor, a UNESCO World Heritage site, the Montenegro International Piano Festival brings together leading artists and the next generation of pianists through three core pillars: the MIP Gala Concert Series, the international piano competition with the main prize Montenegro Grand Prix, and an intensive programme of masterclasses with world-leading professors.
Vasilisa
Lopušina
FOUNDER AND ARTISTIC DIRECTOR
Vasilisa Lopušina is a Montenegrin pianist whose artistry embodies refinement, poetic depth, and an innate sense of musical elegance. She graduated with highest distinction from the Music Academy in Cetinje, where she studied under Professor Vladimir Bočkarjov, a distinguished Russian pianist and pedagogue rooted in the Neuhaus tradition. Her artistic formation was further refined at the esteemed “Giuseppe Tartini” Conservatory in Trieste, Italy, where she holds a Master’s degree, shaped by the traditions of the Italian pianistic school.
Her performances have graced stages across Montenegro and throughout Europe, including Serbia, Slovenia, and Italy. As both a soloist and chamber musician, she is recognized for interpretations of rare sensitivity and luminous clarity, where every phrase unfolds with natural grace and expressive precision.
Guided by a clear and cultivated artistic vision, Vasilisa Lopušina is the founder and artistic director of the Montenegro International Piano Festival. Under her direction, the festival has emerged as an elegant meeting point of distinguished artistry and emerging excellence, bringing together internationally acclaimed performers and promising young musicians in an atmosphere of inspiration, dialogue, and cultural distinction.
Through her work, she continues to shape a space where music is not only performed, but profoundly experienced—where artistic identity finds its voice, and timeless beauty is revealed in its most authentic form.
