Ian Jones FRCM is a distinguished British pianist and one of the leading pedagogues of his generation. He serves as Deputy Head of Keyboard and Professor of Piano at the Royal College of Music in London, one of the world’s foremost conservatoires.

As a Steinway Artist, Ian Jones has performed across all five continents, appearing with renowned orchestras such as the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the National Symphony Orchestra, in prestigious venues including Royal Festival Hall and Barbican Hall in London. His concerto performances have included Rachmaninov’s Second and Third Piano Concertos, Paganini Rhapsody, as well as celebrated works by Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Grieg, Schumann and Mozart, earning critical acclaim for their depth, artistry and expressive power.

A prizewinner of the Leeds International Piano Competition, he has received numerous distinctions, including the prestigious Chappell Medal and the Vlado Perlemuter Piano Prize, alongside advanced study in Paris supported by the French Government. His artistic formation was shaped under legendary teachers such as Maria Curcio, György Sebők, Phyllis Sellick, Jerome Lowenthal and Alain Planès.

Renowned internationally as an inspiring mentor, Ian Jones’s students have achieved major success on global stages. He is Artistic Director of the World Piano Teachers Association International Piano Competition, frequently serves on the juries of leading international competitions, examines at top conservatoires including the Royal Academy of Music, and gives masterclasses throughout Europe, Asia and the USA.

In recognition of his outstanding contribution to music and education, Ian Jones was awarded the title Fellow of the Royal College of Music (FRCM) in 2014, conferred by His Majesty King Charles III. His artistic work also extends to film and theatre, notably as piano coach, advisor and performer on the Oscar-nominated film Hilary and Jackie, as well as collaborations with national theatres in Paris and Strasbourg.
