Carles Lama is a renowned Steinway Artist, internationally recognized pianist, educator, and artistic director. Born in Girona, Spain, he earned his diplomas from the Isaac Albéniz Conservatory and the Liceu Conservatory in Barcelona. He later studied under Aquiles Delle Vigne at the École Normale de Musique in Paris and with Luiz de Moura Castro at the Hartt School of Music in the United States. His artistic formation was further shaped through masterclasses with Alicia de Larrocha, Boris Berman, Murray Perahia, and Claude Frank.

Lama’s international career spans performances in major cities across Europe, Asia, and the Americas, including Paris, London, Tokyo, Shanghai, Moscow, Buenos Aires, and Montevideo. As a soloist, he has appeared with orchestras such as the London City Chamber Orchestra, Orquestra Simfònica de São Paulo, Tokyo Chamber Orchestra, and the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra.

In 1987, he co-founded the acclaimed “Carles & Sofia Piano Duo” with pianist Sofia Cabruja. Together, they have performed in prestigious venues including Carnegie Hall, Palau de la Música Catalana, Sala Verdi, and Teatro Solís. Their discography for KNS Classical features over ten recordings, including works by Brahms, Schubert, Rachmaninov, and unique projects such as the four-hand Lieder Project and a transcription of the opera Goyescas.

A passionate educator, Lama has given masterclasses across Europe, the United States, and Asia, and served as director of the Conservatory of Music in Girona from 2006 to 2012. He is also the founder of the Music Talent Lab, a program focused on guiding musicians in career development, branding, and digital strategy.

His commitment to humanitarian causes has been recognized by UNICEF, and in 2012, he launched “Concerts4Good – Music on a Mission” with Sofia Cabruja to support social and charitable initiatives through music. Lama has received numerous honors, including the Golden Star for Professional Excellence, the European Golden Cross, and the Medal for Merit at Work. He regularly serves on the juries of international competitions and curates several music festivals and concert series around the world.
