Montenegro Enters the Alink Argerich Foundation Catalogue for the First Time – International Piano Competition Makes History

For the first time in history, Montenegro has been included in the official catalogue of the renowned Alink Argerich Foundation, thanks to the Montenegro International Piano Festival (MIP), held in Kotor.

This remarkable achievement represents an important step forward, positioning Montenegro among internationally recognized piano competitions and further strengthening its place on the global artistic scene.

The festival, which will take place this year from June 15 to 21, confirms—already in its third edition—the significance of Kotor as a cultural and artistic destination.

Through MIP, Kotor is increasingly establishing itself as a regional center of classical music, attracting young talents, renowned pedagogues, and international artists, thereby enhancing the city’s cultural offering and contributing to its global recognition.

Inclusion in the catalogue of this prestigious foundation confirms the quality, credibility, and vision of the festival, while also opening new doors for connecting local artists with the global music community.

At the same time, this success holds broader significance for Montenegro, contributing to its positioning as a country that systematically invests in the development of the arts, young talents, and international cultural cooperation.

Additional confirmation of the festival’s importance is the fact that an article about the Montenegro International Piano Festival has been published in the esteemed international magazine The Pianist, further expanding the event’s visibility to a wider global audience of classical music enthusiasts.

Through MIP, a new chapter begins—one that connects Montenegro, its artists, and its cultural vision with global musical trends, contributing to the development and promotion of classical music at the highest level, while also strengthening the country’s cultural identity through top-tier international events.

The festival director, Vasilisa Lopušina, emphasized that this recognition is not only a great success for the festival but also a strong confirmation that Montenegro has much to offer to the global artistic scene.

“Inclusion in the Alink Argerich Foundation catalogue and presence in The Pianist magazine motivate us to move forward even more boldly, with a clear vision for MIP to become an essential point on the map of the world’s most important piano competitions. We are especially pleased that this story is developing right here in Kotor, a city whose cultural heritage and authenticity give the festival additional value and distinctiveness.”

The Montenegro International Piano Festival continues to build bridges between the local and international scenes, actively contributing to the promotion of Kotor and Montenegro as destinations of top-level art, culture, and a meeting place for young talents from around the world.
